WONDERFUL COUNCIL CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Knights of Columbus Council #5128 offer our gratitude to those responsible for organizing such a wonderful Christmas Party! It was an evening full of tasty food, wonderful music, and comaraderie, capped off by the appearance of SANTA himself! What an outstanding way to begin this joyous Christmas season. Family members of ALL ages enjoyed this event.
Special thanks to our Ladies Auxiliary (for their invaluable efforts, including this party), Maureen Morgan (for organizing and piano skills), Ken Geier (for organizing and doing all it takes to assure a good event), Bill and Theresa Fitzgerald (for gladly doing any requested task), and Carvel Steinke (for all the help and support for which he is known). Additional thanks to the melodious vocal skills of the wonderful Weber Family, Michael Morgan, and John McBride, all accompanied on piano by Maureen Morgan. To the above mentioned and ALL others whose assistance made that party so successful, we offer our deepest gratitude.
What We Do?
Monthly General Council Meetings
Members of the KofC Council St. Malachy Council (#5128) are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings held in the undercroft of St. Philip the Apostle Church every SECOND THURSDAY of each month. Meetings begin at 7:30pm and are preceded by a Rosary at 7:00pm. Important Council information is presented at every General Council Meeting, so members are requested to attend for their input and ideas. Council meetings are concluded with a social fellowship gathering including refreshments and snacks.
Social Events
KofC Council #5128 is very active in the organization, and staffing of Parish social events here at St. Philip the Apostle. Among those annual events are the Lenten Fish Fries, Parish Picnic, Parish Dance (in conjunction with the parish Fellowship Committee), and the annual Dave Mueller Memorial Soccer Challenge.
Parish Improvements
St. Malachy Council sponsored the Memorial to the Unborn with walkway, working in conjunction with David Bertsch to fulfill an Eagle Scount project. Additional projects include the outdoor Stations of the Cross, (etc)
Community Activities
St. Malachy Council is active in a wide variety of Community activities. Among them, volunteers from this KofC council have helped build homes for Housing for Humanity. Annual fund raising drives have been held to support a Work Program for the handicapped. Additionally, volunteers do a variety of weekly projects for the aged by fixing various household problems, mowing and raking lawns, shoveling snow, etc.
Christ Our Refuge (Cor)
Christ Our Refuge (Cor) is a men's prayer and reflection group meeting held the first (1st) and third (3rd) Wednesday of every month. Meetings begin with greetings along with refreshements and snacks (often coinciding with seasonal or topical treats). Cor meetings are open to all people interested in learning more about faith, including KofC members, Catholics, Christians, and current non-believers. Meetings include some scripture reading(s), prayer, and open discussions about the topic(s) presented within each meeting. The Lord Jesus asked that we evangelize to spread his word to all. Cor is a wonderful vehicle to accomplish that task.
Catholic and Religious Program
St. Malachy Council have been very supportive of the religious, including those following vocations to the priesthood. Funds are donated to the Anthenaeum of Cincinnati in support of those from the parish studying for the priesthood. A wide variety of support is offered on a regular basis from this council to those following their holy calling to a spiritual and meaningful life in service to Christ and His church.
Bereavement
Think of those times you have seen first hand a group of Knights of Columbus dressed in full formal regalia including the 4th Degree Chapeau (hat). Maybe it was at a Catholic funeral. How incredibly moving is it to see the honor shown by a group of Knights for the departed? Imagine the comfort it gives to family members and friends.
